Mark Instinct

So yeah it turns out Mark Instinct, who is headling SUbliminal is got a pretty firing mix. I recognize his tune "Destroyed" from some of the other mixes that I'm posted up about, he's signed to Rottun so expect a style similar to Excision/ Datsik, all robot-y shit gone wild. Good stuff, here's his mix:

SKREAM! on Soundcloud
Any one on soundcloud should follow SKream as he drops some very fresh dubs up on there. There's even one or two that you can dowload, most of the tear-outs are audio water-marked tho. My fave at the moment is Blast Master which is a rip-roaring wobble attack. Check it: http://soundcloud.com/skreamizm/blaster-master and follow SKream here: http://soundcloud.com/skreamizm
SUBliminal @ Double Door :: Dubstep, Hip Hop and Drum & Bass : 18 DJ's : 2 rooms!
Hey local crew FurtherSound is hosting a rather big local event @ Double Door. I'm very excited to see this go down and actually have 2 rooms of DJs at one spot. It will almost be like a London night club or something. Seriously this kind of thing doesn't happen often around here so be stoked.
Big line-up:
▂ ▃ ▅ ▆ ▇ ▋MAIN ROOM - DUBSTEP + HIP HOP ▋▇ ▆ ▅ ▃ ▂
MC ADaD - Chicago
Hip Hop - URB 25 NOW!
http://www.soundcloud.com/madadam
I don't much about this guy so here's what FurtherSound had to say:
Repping Chicago’s south side, ADaD is also member of Eurolythimics, but is quickly changing the game as a solo artist coming into his own. Dubbed the next hip-hop hopeful, he thematically brings fans back to self by preaching an acceptance of who you are. Executing wordplay that mainstream hip-hop compensates for overproduction and posturing, ADaD shares stages with some of the largest names in hip-hop with party-style performances never having to compromise his art or message.

Rebel Sonix 'Looking Back' video
This is chill little coffee-time morning dubstep tune by Rebel Sonix. I'm really feeling the tune, bit of early V Recordings/ LTJ vibe. The video by stop-frame animation artist Helen Windle is a little too safe for me, especially considering all the shit you can do with stop motion, but it's kinda cool none the less. Just not wowing me like I want it to. I do appreciate more Dubstep producers doing videos tho, so big ups for that.

16 - BiT @ Smart Bar 01-28-10

doing my bit (no pun), to help the chi dubstep scene... come out and see 16-bit. You can ask him to autograph your iPhone if you got a copy the game he did Lilt-line. That game is fucking tough man, I suck at it. I'm stuck at level 3, perhaps you all got better tapping and tilting skills than I, big deal. anyways here's the hype, straight from the promoters spammin' my inbox.

abstract science is proud to announce another night of dubstep @ smartbar, this time featuring london upstarts 16 BIT and alongside bass goes boom co-founder TIMID and wluw's CHRIS WIDMAN.
-----------
>16 BIT
when name and title alone evoke sonic visions--in this case, a serrated buzzsaw of jagged pixels tearing through a video game landscape--you've tapped into the spirit of the times. there's no question that the young south london dou of eddie "kidnappa" jefferys and jason aka "drt" morrison, aka 16 BIT, have hit upon this spirit with the latest dubstep sound of the moment. vaunted new yorker pop music critic sasha frere-jones named the aforementioned title "chainsaw calligraphy", from the smash "in the death car ep", to his "decade reconsidered" list representing 2009 and the song's tearing digital distortion has been heard on countless mixes, from underground to ministry of sound. with an in-your-face style bordering on absurdity, it's no surprise that eddie "kidnappa" jefferys is also one half the rising breakcore dou BROKEN NOTE. but somehow 16 BIT is able to maintain a controlled chaos, channeling digital distortion into a hit formula that in a few years has pushed the dou to forefront of dubstep's next wave of stars. don't miss the return of 16 BIT!

>TIMID
As the BGB head honcho and MNML EFRT mastermind, Timid is one of the forefathers repping dubstep on the decks in chicago. His styles range from the deep and dubby teched out end to the wobbly / fidgety / bass-ridden parts of the dubstep spectrum. As one of the founding promoters of the pioneering bass goes boom monthly, TIMID has had a hand in bringing many of the genre's innovators to chicago.
>CHRIS WIDMAN
Chris Widman is a DJ that defies easy classification. Host of the weekly radio program Abstract Science since it's inception in 1997 and a DJ since 1995, his cohesive sets intertwine records from across the electronic music spectrum and beyond. Over the years, Widman has set the stage for a diverse cast of underground luminaries--Amon Tobin, Apparat, Benga, Booka Shade, Cinematic Orchestra, Daedelus, Deadbeat, Dosh, Edit of the Glitch Mob, The Field, Jaga Jazzist, John Tejada, Kode9, Lady Sovereign, M83, M.Doughty (of Soul Coughing), Matthew Dear, Meat Beat Manifesto, Modeselektor, Monolake, Mr. Scruff, Nightmares on Wax, Plaid, The Orb, Rusko, Scanner, Sleeparchive, Skream, Telefon Tel Aviv, Ulrich Schnauss and Unkle--and performed at Resfest, the Chicago World Music Festival, Chicago's Museum of Contempory Art, Chicago Cultural Center, the Rhinocererous Theatre Festival, LA's dublab.com, Germany's Club Bogaloo, and many of Chicago's choice venues (including Metro, Empty Bottle, Abbey Pub with residencies at Smartbar and Sonotheque). Widman also records and performs live with Colin Harris as Quadratic. Lately, he's been mixing up every record near 140 bpm and telling the kids it's dubstep.

Dubstep Forum Award 2009
Dubstep Forum Award 2009 All around a pretty decent listing, although I would have like a best perfomances category, as best DJ sometimes just doesn't cut it. The ablilty to write-in a vote would have been nice too. But hell you get 2£ for a download track for Juno for voting (need to be a registered membe of Dubstep forum however), so no complaints really. That's a pretty sweet thing do. I post the results when they come thru.
