Plastician - April 27th - Esco Bars RIP

Plastician - April 27th - Esco Bars RIP No Nomad this week, but a big bad mix by Plastician. Dropping all hot plates, including new bits by Skream ("Metal Mouth"), a nice OM UNIT block and a unreleased acappella by the late Jade Gavin "Esco Bars" Defoe in RIP tribute. I find the key players in the grime scene's way of treating this tragedy/crime very polite, but also intelligent. May sound weird I realize. let me explain... but for those of you that don't know Esco Bars died from a head trauma as the result of a street assault. I don't know the details, as all I can't find was info from The Sun, and who knows how inaccurate that is. but yeah foul play was involved. Esco spit crazy bad man lyrics, often rife with references of violence, crime, drugs, ego etc... all the regular trimmings of the grime genre. Instead of making him into a martyr, example, or tragic figure... the circumstances surrounding his death have been rather downplayed by players in the scene(not so much by the punters unfortunately). Whether its out of respect, politeness or just common sense, is sort of refreshing really... and honors the individual and his craft rather than the crime which lead to his untimely death. The "live-by-the-sword-die-by-the-sword" accusatory rationalization of the crimes by press, haters, PMRC, police and whomever else, is just bullshit and sickening. Their media will probably use it to attack the scene just like the US did of hip-hop when Tupac and Biggie Smalls were killed, but with any luck, a united family in mourning will sour their attempts at discredit. Anyways respect to Esco and his skills... my sincere condolences goes out to the family and friends.
